Professional regulations in Germany

The work of Rechtsanwältinnen and Rechtsanwälte is governed by the professional regulations for lawyers, in particular the Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (BRAO, Federal Lawyers' Act), the Berufsordnung für Rechtsanwälte (BORA, Rules of Professional Practice for Lawyers), the Fachanwaltsordnung (FAO, Specialist Lawyers' Regulations) and the Gesetz über die Vergütung der Rechtsanwälte (RVG, Lawyers' Remuneration Act), the Gesetz über die Tätigkeit europäischer Rechtsanwälte in Deutschland (EuRAG, Act on the Activities of European Lawyers in Germany), and the Code of Conduct for European Lawyers (CCBE Code).
